    Proposals & design features

The design included a large open plan lower ground space fronted with triple sliding doors adjacent to a galley style kitchen and island. Replan of space at the upper floor level allowed a new staircase down and a new balcony taking full advantage of the fantastic views of Portishead and beyond.

    Aesthetics & materials

On the exterior a combination of materials were incorporated into the design including standing seam zinc / metal cladding to the pitched roof and walls together with through coloured render and larch timber cladding. A feature timber truss supports the roof over the balcony area and the edge protected with glass guarding so that the view is uninterrupted. Roof over hangs were built into the design with timber louvres to help control solar gains through the large areas of glazing which are south facing.
